I am doing my 15 months training at a reputed listed company. My training is getting over by october. Management is willing to absorb me as an employee in secretarial dept, to assist them in managing compliance activities & a few subsidiary companies. I have cleared 2 grps of prof prog n appearing for the remaining 2 grps in Dec 2012(2nd sitting!) Added, am gonna complete Mcom this dec. So wat designation can i expect or ask for?

Some ppl tell, after passing ACS Inter a candidate is eligible to be an Asst Company Secretary. So is it an Assistant comp sec post or executive secretarial?

Members pls guide me in this regard.

Dear Soundharya,

You have to clear CS PP module 2 & 3 to become qualified CS.
You have to possess 3 years experience to become ACS by registering a member of ICSI.

You are completing your training in October 2012 & M. Com in December 2012.

In my opinion, without accepting any job till completion of December 2012 exam, please try to complete your CS in next December 2012 Exam. Then you will get a lot of opportunites. In this case, you ask your employer to allow you 2 months time to join beause of your forth coming examination.

Secondly, you can accept the job there, irrespective of any designation which depends upon your capability to bargain, if you can manage your CS PP exam, M. Com Exam with full time job.

Thirdly, it is not advisable to join anywhere else for the time being because the complete envirnment will be changed.

Forthly, you can accept the job anywhere else, other than the existing one, if you can manage your CS PP exam, M. Com Exam with full time job at a new envirnment.

This is purely my personal opinion & is not intended to hurt the sentments of anybody else.

Have a nice day.

Dear Aswinia,

The work structure, culture and area of both the stream is very different from each other. In company we do a different kind of job , i mean holding meetings, preparing Minutes, various drafting related to the need of the company , if listed then we get chance of working accordingly..
Under a PCS , we get chance and opportunity of working for various kinds of companies and as per their various needs.
Dont get confused from my answer... I simply mean both options are equally important but gives ur chance in different means...
I m doing my training under a PCS . Here I have learnt various things but as my trainer do not work for any listed limited company so i did not get chance of learning works of shares , stock exchange etc..
So, ultimately you have to take decisions as per your future plans.. I mean if you want to continue in Job , then My suggestion to you will be "a Company" else any PCS.

good luck..

Dear Aswinia,

Please consider the suggestion given by Ms. Nisha Kejriwal.

In addition, my suggestion is as follows.

1) If you want to join company job after passing CS, then please take training in a company.

2) If you want to start practice after passing CS, then you can think of taking training under a PCS.

Both have their own merits as pointed out by Mr. Nisha.

It is my personal opinion.

Have a nice day.

In this case, please join a LISTED company where you will work under 2/3 CS.

Have a happy learning.

Ramesh Sir,

Listed company - 2/3 CS? There is only one CS even in case of listed entities as far as my knowledge is concerned.

In a PCS, there may be 2/3 CS who are partners.

Please correct me if I am incorrect.

Soundharya, 2/3 CS means there may be only one signatory as CS but the core team of the CS section of the company may constitutes a group of 2/3 CS. hope u getting my point..

It is clarify you that in my company, we have got a team of 3 Company Secretaries & one CS trainee in the secretarial department. They all are in whole time jobs.

The HOD will be the signatory to Balance Sheet, Annual Returns, etc.

But I have written only 2/3 CS. It means that there may be two or three Company Secretaries in a listed company. It varies from company to company.

Have a happy learning.
